01Overview

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Dead Reckoner LLC ("Dead Reckoner," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects information when you use the Dead Reckoner mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Dead Reckoner is a goal execution and accountability platform. The Service may help users create goals, generate roadmaps, track habits and tasks, invite accountability partners called Anchors, exchange messages, receive notifications, and manage subscriptions.

This Privacy Policy is intended to cover both the mobile app and the website. The same policy should be linked from the app, the website, App Store Connect, and Google Play Console.

02Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories, depending on how you use the Service.

  • Account information, such as name, email address, login credentials, account ID, authentication provider information, and account settings.
  • Profile information, such as profile photo, preferences, goals, target dates, habits, tasks, roadmap details, check-ins, notes, progress updates, completion history, and archived roadmaps.
  • Anchor and accountability information, such as Anchor invitations, accepted connections, shared goals, shared progress, nudges, accountability interactions, and Anchor-related settings.
  • Messages and user communications, including messages, replies, reactions, support requests, reports, and other content you choose to send through the Service.
  • AI interaction information, such as the goal details, answers, prompts, inputs, outputs, roadmap drafts, task recommendations, and related context used to generate or improve your plan inside the Service.
  • Subscription and entitlement information, such as subscription status, product purchased, renewal status, receipt or transaction identifiers, app store entitlement data, and restore purchase status. We do not receive your full credit card number from Apple or Google.
  • Device and technical information, such as device type, operating system, IP address, app version, browser type, crash logs, diagnostic data, analytics events, and approximate location inferred from IP address.
  • Notification information, such as push notification tokens and notification preferences.
  • Website information, such as pages viewed, forms submitted, waitlist signups, cookies, analytics events, and marketing attribution information.

You should avoid submitting highly sensitive information unless it is necessary for the goal you are creating and you are comfortable with that information being processed as described in this Privacy Policy.

05AI Features

AI Features and AI Service Providers

Dead Reckoner uses AI features to help generate and refine goals, roadmaps, tasks, habits, and related recommendations. To provide those features, we may process your goal details, answers, prompts, generated outputs, and related context through our systems and through third-party AI service providers acting on our behalf.

AI-generated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for your circumstances. They are not professional advice and should be reviewed by you before acting on them.

We do not sell your user content. For the third-party AI API providers we use to provide AI features, we do not permit those providers to use your personal information to train their general models unless we disclose that practice and obtain consent where required by law. We may use de-identified, aggregated, or otherwise privacy-protective information to improve the Service, debug issues, measure quality, and enhance product performance.

06Anchor Visibility

Anchor Visibility and Sharing

The Anchor feature is built around voluntary accountability. If you invite or accept an Anchor relationship, information you choose to share may become visible to that Anchor, including goals, roadmaps, tasks, habits, check-ins, progress status, missed tasks, messages, and related accountability activity.

You control whether to invite an Anchor and may remove or block an Anchor through the Service where available. However, an Anchor may already have seen, saved, copied, screenshotted, or received notifications containing information you shared before removal. We cannot control what another user does with information after they receive it.

07How We Share

How We Share Information

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Anchors and other users as directed by you through the Service.
  • With service providers who help us operate the Service, including hosting, cloud storage, database, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, customer support, email, push notification, payment entitlement, security, and AI service providers.
  • With Apple, Google, and app store providers as necessary to process subscriptions, verify entitlements, restore purchases, manage refunds, and comply with app store rules.
  • With legal, compliance, security, or law enforcement parties when required by law, legal process, or a reasonable need to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction involving Dead Reckoner.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising through the mobile app. Our website may use analytics, cookies, or marketing tools as described in this Privacy Policy and in any cookie or consent controls we provide.

08Cookies & Analytics

Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies

The mobile app does not use browser cookies in the same way a website does, but it may use analytics SDKs, device identifiers, push notification tokens, and similar technologies to operate and improve the Service.

The website may use cookies, pixels, analytics tools, and similar technologies to understand usage, measure performance, improve the website, remember preferences, and support marketing or waitlist activity. You can control cookies through your browser settings and any consent tools made available on the website.

If we request permission for app tracking, push notifications, photos, camera, contacts, or other device-level access, the app will provide the required platform permission prompt. You can manage permissions through your device settings.

09Payments

Payments and Subscriptions

Mobile app subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by Dead Reckoner. We receive subscription and entitlement information needed to determine whether your account should have access to paid features. We do not receive your full payment card details from Apple or Google.

Canceling a subscription does not automatically delete your Dead Reckoner account or goal history. Deleting your Dead Reckoner account does not automatically cancel an active subscription through Apple or Google. You must manage or cancel subscriptions through the applicable app store account settings.

10Data Retention

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud or abuse, and maintain security.

In general, account data, goals, roadmaps, habits, tasks, Anchor relationships, messages, and progress history remain associated with your account unless you delete them, delete your account, or we delete them under our policies. If your subscription expires, we may retain your account data so that it can become available again if you resubscribe using the same account, subject to product limitations and applicable law.

After account deletion, we will delete or de-identify personal information that is not legally or operationally required to retain. Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, security records, transaction records, dispute records, or legal compliance files. We may retain de-identified or aggregated information indefinitely.

11Account Deletion

Account Deletion and Data Requests

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information through the in-app account deletion flow or through our web deletion page at https://www.deadreckoner.io/account-deletion. You may also contact us at info@deadreckoner.io.

We may need to verify your identity before processing deletion, access, correction, portability, or other privacy requests. We aim to process verified deletion requests within a reasonable period, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.

Deleting your account may permanently remove goals, roadmaps, habits, tasks, progress history, Anchor connections, messages, and other account content from active systems. Deletion does not require other users to delete copies of information they already received from you, and it does not automatically cancel app store subscriptions.

12Security

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These safeguards may include encryption in transit, encryption at rest provided by our hosting and database providers, access controls, monitoring, secure hosting practices, and internal restrictions based on need to know.

If we determine that a security incident requires notice under applicable law, we will notify affected users, regulators, or other parties as required by applicable law.

No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for promptly notifying us of suspected unauthorized access.

13International Users

International Users and Data Transfers

Dead Reckoner is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.

Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, consent, contractual necessity, or other legally recognized safeguards.

14Your Rights

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, or information about how your personal information is processed. You may submit requests through the Service, at https://www.deadreckoner.io/account-deletion, or by contacting info@deadreckoner.io.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. We may decline or limit a request where permitted by law, such as when we cannot verify your identity, the request is excessive, the information is legally required to be retained, or an exception applies.

15California & U.S. States

California and Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

To the extent applicable, residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws may have the right to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising practices.

We do not sell personal information. Because the Service is intended only for adults 18 and older, we do not knowingly sell or share personal information of anyone under 18. If our website uses advertising or retargeting technologies that require opt-out rights, we will provide any legally required choices or disclosures.

California residents may also contact us regarding California's Shine the Light law at info@deadreckoner.io.

16Children & Minors

Children and Minors

The Service is intended only for adults 18 and older. You may not use the Service if you are under 18.

As an additional legal backstop, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without required consent, we will delete it. If you believe anyone under 18 has provided information to us, contact us at info@deadreckoner.io.

17Third-Party Links

Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to third-party websites, services, app stores, authentication providers, or other tools that we do not own or control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.

18Changes

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted in the app and on the website with a new "Last Updated" date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice, such as by email, in-app notice, or website notice.
